Introduction to Gedit

The Gedit package contains a lightweight UTF-8 text editor for the GNOME Desktop.

This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-8.1 platform.

Installation of Gedit

Install Gedit by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-spell &&
make

This package does not come with a test suite.

Now, as the root user:

make install

Command Explanations

--disable-spell: Use this switch to disable spell-checking capability. It is required if gspell is not installed.

--enable-gtk-doc: Use this parameter if GTK-Doc is installed and you wish to rebuild and install the API documentation.
